The Belize 2012 General Elections, held on the 7th of March, was an unforgettable one because of the numbers portrayed by the final results. Gathered here is an infographic of the General Elections of Belize for the year 2012. Compared to the 2008 General Elections results, there is a decrease in the number of seats won by the United Democratic Party (UDP) (-8) in the 2012 General Elections. On the other hand the People’s United Party (PUP) had an increase in the number of seats won in this year’s election (+8). According to statistics, by Elections & Boundaries of Belize, the number of registered voters for this year was 178,054. The voter’s turnout was 130,258 (73.16%) of the total valid votes which was 130,258. There was also 1259 rejected votes. The UDP received 50.37% of the total votes while the PUP got 47.54%. The other parties got 2.09% of the votes all together — VIP (0.30%), PNP (0.64%) IND (0.64%). In the end the UDP came out victorious winning 17 of the 31 seats available. The remaining 14 seats were won all by the PUP. Again, Congratulations to Primer Minister Dean Oliver Barrow and the United Democratic Party (UDP) for their victory.
